The Project
Sanctuary Café is set to be refurbished, rebuilt, and reopened!
After many years of planning, prayer, and preparation, we are delighted to have received approval to remodel Sanctuary Café. This marks an exciting new chapter for a much-loved community space.
Sanctuary Café is located in the Church Hall of Lymm United Reformed Church, a building constructed in the 1960s. Over the decades, it has faithfully served the church and wider community, hosting Scouts, Brownies, Boys’ Brigade, meetings, concerts, and countless other activities and events.
Time, however, has taken its toll. The building now shows clear signs of wear, including tired woodwork, a leaking roof, and inadequate insulation that no longer meets modern standards. The kitchen, in particular, has long been unsuitable for supporting a thriving café, and it is only thanks to the dedication, patience, and creativity of our staff that we have managed as well as we have until now.
With planning permission secured from Warrington Borough Council and Mersey Synod of the United Reformed Church, we now have the green light to turn our vision into reality.
We are working closely with CB3, Lymm-based architects, who have developed detailed plans and funding estimates for the project. We look forward to sharing progress as we transform Sanctuary Café into a renewed, welcoming space for everyone

The Challenge
We are embarking on a crucial journey to raise £700,000 to complete our project. With a range of exciting events planned, we are optimistic about generating the necessary funds. We anticipate that grants and awards from supportive funding bodies will play a significant role in our fundraising efforts Additionally, we are grateful for the backing of the United Reformed Church, which has committed to contributing towards our goals.
The plea
Can you help us bring this ambitious project to life?
Whether you are an individual, a business, or an organisation, we would be deeply grateful for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Alongside smaller gifts, we hope to receive support from generous individuals and larger organisations who share our vision for Sanctuary Café and have a heart to see it grow and flourish in the years ahead.
Your contribution will help us continue offering luscious food and the best coffee in town, while creating a renewed, welcoming space for the whole community.
Donations can be made in person at the café or via our JustGiving page
